The plane's Messenger space agency NASA has successfully orbiting Mercury for the first time.
After performing a complicated maneuver to avoid the Sun's gravity, an unmanned spacecraft successfully entered the lane bernamatersebut orbit on Thursday night in Florida after traveling 4.9 billion miles, or approximately six and a half years from Earth.
This achievement at the same time as the fifth planet Mercury makes a successful touched by humans in our solar system.
Apparently, Mercury is not difficult to achieve. But, it must be remembered that it is a rocky planet and the most extreme temperature in the solar system. The range in surface temperature reaches 593 degrees Celsius. The temperature at the surface can reach 426 degrees Celsius at the closest distance to the Sun and reach -148 degrees Celsius at midnight.
Mercury is known to have extreme temperature shift from hot to cold. Somehow during the day is much longer than the nights each year. And strangely, although the planet closest to the sun, scientists discovered the existence of tons of ice in the dark crater.
Messenger is planned to enter Mercury's orbit and spin for a year. For all tasks, the satellites worth U.S. $ 446 million (Rp 3, 9 trillion), should be able to withstand the gravitational pull of the sun.
Mercury itself has a highly elliptical orbit. Range of distance to the sun about 29 million miles (47 million kilometers) to 43 million miles (69 million kilometers) for the longest distance. To note, Mercury orbits the sun every 88 Earth days.
